SmartZap
SmartZap is a fully automated robotic ESD gun tester.
An ESD gun is mounted on a 6-axis robot, and all test parameters—including gun positioning, discharge locations, and test conditions—are fully controlled by SmartZap’s software.
A built-in conductive brush safely removes any residual charge from the DUT (Device Under Test).
Automatic Fault Detection
SmartZap is equipped with automatic fault detection, delivering significantly higher performance and reliability compared to manual ESD gun testing.
IEC 61000-4-2 Compliance
The system complies with the IEC 61000-4-2 standard, which defines immunity testing of electronic equipment against electrostatic discharges that may originate directly from an operator or indirectly from nearby objects. This includes low-humidity environments where synthetic carpets, fabrics, or similar conditions are present.

Test Positioning
Discharge positions can be defined using images captured from five cameras at different angles, as well as from CAD data of the DUT.
Fault Detection
- Each FD module includes monitoring of four analog signals and digital signals, inputs from photo sensors and a 1 kHz audio source, communication with a call box, relays, and a 120 V / 5 A power supply for DUT power cycling.
- Boolean operations of monitoring signals are used to classify fault types.
- Macro functions enable step-by-step control of fault detection and power cycle procedures.
