Conversion from near-field to far-field is a practical application of phase measurement technology. A Huygens cube is defined around the DUT, and the tangential field amplitude and phase information are captured in 3D. Far-field transformation is then performed within the SmartScan software.

Users can define nearly all far-field measurement parameters in the chamber, including measurement distances (3 m or 10 m), fully or semi-anechoic conditions, antenna height and rotation angles, and chamber-specific background noise levels.

Radiation from cables can become dominant in certain frequency ranges. Cables are modeled based on their currents, allowing their radiated emissions to be estimated. By combining emissions from the DUT and the cables in SmartScan, it is possible to estimate the far-field across the entire target frequency range.

Near-field Measurement
